Indecipherable Sketches

We Disappear book review

My day began in it’s usual routine, which consists of sipping Sunny Delight whilst skipping around the studio to the music of The Beach Boys. Then I sat down to read the book review I received from the LA Times. Here’s the gist:

A struggling writer with a crystal meth addiction abandons his career to go home to his cancer-ridden mother. He then joins in his mother’s obsession over missing/murdered children, which relates to some dark secret event in his mother’s past.

Beach Boys out. Soundtrack for “There Will Be Blood” in. Sketch time.

We Disappear sketches

Here’s an idea of the mess I make before arriving at anything remotely interesting. Why embarrass myself by showing these? All for your enjoyment, dear reader.

‘Til next time…

hey Nathan… this is fascinating as hell. I’m the novelist who wrote the book with the review you illustrated– up ’til now, I’d only seen the LA Times internet site, so this is the first time I’ve seen the actual illustration. It’s totally great and really flattering… I’m going to link to it on my own weblog. –scott
